We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior R&D Engineer to join our team as we advance through the Product Development Process (PDP). In this critical phase of product development, you will play a leading role in design finalization, verification, validation, and preparation for product launch. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a project that is transitioning from development into commercialization, ensuring that the product meets regulatory, quality, and market requirements.

Peripheral Vascular Health Operating Unit

Peripheral Vascular Health therapies are a critical part of the Medtronic vascular portfolio, treating patients with a broad range of conditions, including Peripheral and Carotid Disease, End Stage Renal Disease, Peripheral Embolization, and Superficial and Deep Venous Disease. We lead the way in the Superficial Venous and Drug Coated Balloon markets, caring for hundreds of millions of patients globally with lifesaving and life-enhancing therapies.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Design Finalization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to refine and optimize the product design based on Phase 2 feedback, ensuring manufacturability, usability, and performance standards are met. 

  • Verification & Validation: Lead efforts to develop, execute, and document verification and validation protocols, ensuring the product meets design inputs and complies with regulatory requirements. Participate in preclinical evaluations.   

  • Risk Management: Perform detailed risk assessments (e.g., DFMEA) and implement mitigation strategies to address potential design and process risks. 

  • Regulatory Compliance: Partner with Regulatory Affairs to ensure the product meets applicable global medical device standards (e.g., FDA, ISO, EU MDR). 

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Quality, Manufacturing, and Marketing teams to support product transfer into production, ensuring alignment with customer and business needs. 

  • Design Reviews: Participate in technical design reviews, providing expertise to address technical challenges and ensure robust product performance. 

  • Documentation: Generate and review technical documentation, including engineering drawings, test protocols, and reports, to ensure compliance with Medtronic's quality systems and regulatory standards. 

  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):

To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements must be evident on your resume. 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical, Biomedical, Electrical or related field)

  • Minimum of 4 years of R&D engineering experience

OR

  • Advanced degree with 2 years R&D engineering experience
