Job Title: Senior Payroll Specialist
Location: Remote to McLean, VA HQ office
Salary Range: $56,000 - $80,000 SUMMARY
As part of our Accounting & Finance team, the Payroll Specialist/Analyst plays a vital role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time, while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and government contracting requirements. This role partners closely with HR and Finance to deliver efficient, accurate, and reliable payroll operations that support our company’s mission and employees.
We are seeking a detail-oriented, mid-level payroll professional with strong hands-on experience in Deltek Costpoint and UKG. The ideal candidate has a proven track record processing multi-state payrolls, ensuring compliance with tax regulations, and supporting government contracting requirements. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, values accuracy, and enjoys collaborating across departments to solve problems and improve processes.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES· Process biweekly, weekly, and off-cycle payrolls for exempt and non-exempt employees in multiple states, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.· Maintain payroll records and employee changes (new hires, terminations, benefits, garnishments, deductions, PTO accruals, etc.).· Reconcile payroll data with the Payroll Director and Finance to ensure accuracy in employee data, benefits, and GL reporting.· Prepare payroll reports, support audits (including DCAA), and provide documentation for month-end close and year-end filings (W-2s, 941s, 1099s).· Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws, as well as government contracting requirements (SCA, FAR).· Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies; serve as a trusted resource for employee payroll questions.· Support payroll system enhancements, implementations, or integrations in Costpoint and UKG.· Assist with payroll tax reporting, quarterly and annual filings, and state income tax/SUI registrations. Education, Background, and Years of Experience· 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing.· Hands-on experience with Deltek Costpoint and UKG.· Strong knowledge of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and compliance requirements.· Experience reconciling payroll with the general ledger and supporting month-end close.· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.· Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.· Strong communication skills; able to explain payroll matters clearly and professionally to employees.· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills· Payroll processing in Costpoint and UKG.· Multi-state payroll compliance.· Payroll reconciliations and reporting.· Audit support (internal, external, DCAA).
