Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer (COO), the Senior Director of Finance serves as a key member of the leadership team, responsible for ensuring the fiscal integrity and long-term sustainability of SCA. You will oversee all aspects of financial management while leading a dynamic team that manages Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounting, and Budget Forecasting. This position also directs the organization’s treasury operations, cash flow forecasting, external audit, and annual tax filings. This is a remote position with an annual salary range of $150,000 - $175,000.

What You’ll Do

 

Strategic Financial Leadership

• Develop and manage SCA's annual organizational budget, long-range forecasts, and financial models.
• Present financial strategy and performance to the Executive Team and Board Finance Committee.
• Guide decision-making with thoughtful scenario planning and fiscal analysis.

 

Audit, Tax, and Compliance Oversight

• Direct the external audit and tax filing process, managing relationships with external auditors and advisors.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and nonprofit sector standards.
• Implement and maintain robust internal controls.

 

Treasury and Investment Stewardship

• Oversee all treasury functions, including cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, and reserve planning.
• Maintain effective banking relationships and partner with the COO on investment portfolio oversight.
• Ensure prudent stewardship of financial assets in alignment with the mission.

 

Federal Contracting and Grant Financial Management

• Lead financial oversight of federal, state, and private grants, including compliance with OMB Uniform Guidance.
• Manage federal audit activities and work cross-functionally to support restricted fund tracking and reporting.

 

Billing, Receivables, and Payables Excellence

• Oversee accurate and timely invoicing, collections, and accounts payable processes.
• Improve systems and workflows to ensure compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Lead initiatives to streamline and automate financial operations.

 

Team Leadership and Organizational Partnership

• Supervise and mentor a diverse, talented Finance team covering Billing, AP, Accounting, and Forecasting.
• Foster a collaborative culture built on integrity, learning, and mission alignment.
• Partner with leaders across departments to drive financial best practices and transparency.

 

What We’re Looking For

• Master’s degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including in nonprofit or government contracting settings
• 5+ years of direct staff supervision and team leadership
• Deep expertise in federal contracts, grants, and audits
• Demonstrated success managing audits, tax filings
