Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to head the Medical Affairs Learning and Excellence Team, driving the design, development, and delivery of innovative learning solutions that enhance the capabilities of our medical teams. The individual in this pivotal role will lead and coach a team of trainers and develop the learning strategy for our entire product portfolio, fostering a high-performance culture through a growth mindset approach. This individual will require a deep understanding of the scope of Medical Affairs training and excellence as well as possess excellent organizational and project management skills. This individual will build strong relationships with key partners in a highly matrixed team environment and will be accountable for leading and managing US Medical Affairs (USMA) Training objectives, strategy plan, learning programs, and field excellence. This individual will utilize scientific expertise and field medical experience to manage, conduct, facilitate and evaluate the USMA training program and resources. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of the Commercial and Medical Learning Team, this individual will shape the future of medical affairs learning and development.

Essential Functions

  • Lead, coach, develop and drive accountability of the USMA training and excellence team in a high performing organization, cultivating a growth mindset on the team.
  • Leverage scientific/clinical acumen, medical capabilities, and excellence expertise, and provide dynamic training support across all therapeutic areas and our entire portfolio of products.
  • Research and incorporate new and relevant training approaches and industry best practices to create and maintain a “best in class” Medical Affairs training program, challenging the status quo
  • Collaborate with USMA leadership and subject matter experts (SMEs) to align and execute the strategic direction of medical training and excellence
  • Collaborate with internal SMEs to effectively manage medical training content, access, and delivery in the Learning Management System (LMS) and maintain medical excellence resources and tools.
  • Oversee coordination of facilitators and ensure training resources are available for training sessions/workshops by leveraging scientific/medical expertise and prior medical affairs field experience.
  • Collaborate with USMA partners to optimize the new hire experience and maintain a new hire curriculum program and a plan for continuous development so that Medical Affairs can meet the evolving business needs of Jazz and its external stakeholders.
  • Conduct needs assessment, measure and execute impact of delivery of the training, and refine training strategy, objectives, and content based on the findings, prioritizing the most important areas of focus.
  • Collaborate with the cross functional learning team and commercial leaders to contribute to account management excellence initiatives.
  • Be an active, participative member of the Learning Center of Excellence Leadership Team and the Business Operations & Analytics extended leadership team.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, operating in a highly matrixed environment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Medical Affairs function and training/excellence needs, with at least 10 years within the Pharmaceutical Industry, or at least 7 years within Medical Affairs.
  • Prior leadership and people management experience.
