About the role
Geon Technologies is a rapidly growing small business that provides signal processing and sensor system integration services to the United States Government (USG) and the industry base that supports them. Geon seeks to be known for “signals, sensors, and systems”. Geon has expertise in the science and development of signal processing techniques and algorithm solutions for multi-INT applications. The signal processing and hardware focused sectors of Geon are supported by the work Geon conducts with open architectures, open frameworks, and open systems that facilitate the rapid development, integration, and deployment of techniques and capabilities to operational contexts. Come join a company that brings unique expertise and value to our customers.
In May of 2019, Amazon opened its first AWS Ground Station, a "virtualized segment for ground processing" of satellite signals that support 54 MHz uplink and 500 MHz downlink processing using the proven AWS Cloud Services and technologies. Microsoft Orbital and Google were close behind with their own satellite processing architectures based on cloud services and technologies. At the same time, technologies supporting next-generation 5G exploded into the same cloud technology arena. Geon has been awarded a prime contract to leverage these very same technologies to build next-generation Software Defined Radio (SDR) solutions for the defense and intelligence industry.
The Senior Linux Systems Administrator shall possess extensive experience supporting the implementation, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, optimization, and sustainment of enterprise and mission-critical Information Technology (IT) systems. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for Linux infrastructure, deployment automation, systems integration, and operational support across complex computing environments.
Responsibilities include:
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise Linux systems and infrastructure to ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability.
- Manage day-to-day operations of server, storage, network, virtualization, and application environments, including system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
