Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Inspection Supervisor assures Inspection facilities and capabilities are maintained to satisfy Materion, customer and third-party requirements. The Inspection Supervisor manages personnel to provide timely and technically sound measurement results per schedules developed mutually with production management.
You will have the opportunity to:
- Supervise the Inspection functions for the following areas: RBT (Rod, Bar & Tube), Strip Finish Products, Beryllium Products, CEP (Custom Engineered Products), Electrofusion, Calibration, and Product Certification.
- Leads the development of the Safety culture for areas of responsibilities. Leads the department Safety leaders’ team. Serves as department lead for Quality in plant wide safety teams.
- Identifies, develops, and maintains a high caliper teams in Inspection. Manages training and certifications of Inspection personnel and maintains training records. This includes ASNT and NAS 410 programs.
- Administers the annual performance management process for Inspection. Develops goals and periodically appraises work performance of employees and pursues appropriate action.
- Manages the budget for Inspection. Acts as necessary to meet or improve standards and budgetary commitments. Maintains adequate inventories of Inspection materials and spare parts.
- Identifies, recommends, and implements capital expenditures to maintain and improve Inspection capabilities and reduce overall costs. Develops and executes Inspection capital projects.
- Directs the creation and modification of inspection methods to meet requirements and conform to company and customer specifications.
- Periodically reviews and updates procedures to improve Inspection functions.
- Manages the process for issuing inspection stamps to suppliers for source delegations.
- Directs and leads the Calibration and Recall system for Elmore, Lorain and Warren Service Center.
- Assists other Quality functions to maintain AS9100 certification of the business.
- Prepares progress reports providing updates about the status of the Inspection.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality or related field and 2 years of relevant Inspection, Quality, or related technical experience. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, we will consider candidates that have at least 5 years of relevant on-the-job Inspection, Quality or related technical experience in appropriate fields.
- Familiarity with Nondestructive testing, e.g. Fluorescent Penetrant, Radiography and Ultrasonic.
- Proficiency in SAP, Microsoft Excel, Word, Access and Power Point
- Exceptional leadership skills and results oriented
- Communication skills to effectively interact with employees, internal partners and customers
- Effective managerial skills and capabilities
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or a lawful Permanent Resident of the United States.
Desired
- Familiarity with Materion Be Products product specifications for metal, composite and powder products and the management thereof.
- Familiarity with Nadcap NDT to lead a program to achieve certification.
- Certified as at least an AS9100 Internal auditor.
- Familiarity with the development and maintenance of Inspection Plans in SAP.
- Experienced in administering formal corrective action processes.
- Experience with supervising Inspection personnel.

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
