Job Description

Western Digital is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Manager of Corporate Communications to lead proactive and integrated communications programs for our business. This role will focus on developing external narratives that elevate the business's reputation with media, analysts, customers, and other key stakeholders.

The ideal candidate is a strong storyteller, experienced in technology communications, comfortable working in a global, matrixed environment, and confident as a communications leader. You will report to the Head of Corporate Communications and be responsible for managing corporate issues that have the potential to impact the reputation of Western Digital. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, product marketing, HR, executive communications, and the broader corporate marketing and communications team to align and amplify Western Digital’s strategy, product innovation, and leadership in the data infrastructure space.

The individual must be able to think quickly, manage multiple ongoing issues on parallel paths, understand technical and nuanced topic areas, have exceptional writing skills, and deliver communications strategy concisely with a variety of stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and lead strategic corporate communications plans aligned with company objectives and business milestones.
  • Drive earned media opportunities and develop compelling messaging and content—including press releases, executive quotes, media pitches, bylines, blogs, and social media.
  • Serve as a trusted communications business partner to senior leaders, supporting thought-leadership platforms, interviews, events, awards and speeches.
  • Develop and lead a global spokespersons program to promote cohesive corporate messaging across all worldwide platforms.
  • Help triage and manage inbound inquiries.
  • Partner with product and cross-functional teams to promote sustainability, technology/innovations, corporate initiatives, product launches, and roadmaps.
  • Support issues management and inbound media inquiries to ensure consistent messaging across stakeholders and geographies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with executive and internal communications, sales, corporate and product marketing, legal, and HR to ensure message consistency, alignment and a proactive PR calendar.
  • Manage a third-party endorsements program to protect the company’s brand and reputation.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of campaigns and media coverage to optimize communications impact.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • 10+ years of corporate communications or public relations experience, preferably in the B2B technology or data infrastructure sector.
  • Deep understanding of the enterprise storage, data center, and cloud ecosystem—familiarity with HDD technologies a strong plus.
  • Proven track record of building integrated communication strategies that drive awareness, engagement, and business value.
  • Strong media experience with an established network of relevant contacts a plus.

SKILLS

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex technologies for multiple audiences.
  • Executive presence and experience working directly with senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing agencies and budgets; global experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
