Description
The Young Adult Peer Mentor provides guidance, support, and encouragement to young adults facing various life challenges. This role involves leveraging personal experiences to foster personal growth, build resilience, and help mentees achieve their goals. The mentor will act as a role model and resource for young adults, helping them navigate life transitions and develop essential skills.
What You Will Be Doing to Make a Difference...
- Provides peer support counseling individually with persons served and in groups, drawing on common experiences as a peer, to validate clients’ experiences and to provide guidance and encouragement to clients to take responsibility and actively participate in their own recovery.
- Provides hope, information, guidance and support to young adults involved in behavioral health services or mental health services.
- Act as a positive role model for coworkers and persons served, treating them with respect, dignity, understanding and fairness
- Accurately document observation and progress of behavior, issues and performance of persons served
- Requires working with children, adolescents, young adults and families who may represent varying ethnicities, cultures, and religions, educational level and socioeconomic status
- Provides transportation for youth and families. Driving is needed for this role.

Requirements
Qualifications/Credentials
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Test preferred
- Personal lived experience with mental health and/or behavioral health issues required
