Job Summary
Functions as a technology leader, department manager or administrative leader, in a role that implements technology and engineering strategy. May have influence in developing strategy. Has significant influence for scope of responsibilities within division. Responsible for execution of assigned projects.Key Responsibilities
- Serve as single point of contact knowledgeable of the various engineering execution IT tools and processes
- Identification, analysis, evaluation and recommendation of new/modified engineering execution tools
- Establish the annual budget for engineering execution IT tools in coordination with the CIO's office
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, JV partners and project participants for non-routine issues
- Interface design tools with additional related software products
- Expands knowledge to multiple tools
- Develop knowledge of multiple commercial design tools
- Expands knowledge to multiple technologies and/or business lines
- Identified as a SME across multiple disciplines, multiple tool sets, and multiple business lines Identify cost / time saving opportunities through custom applications and gathers requirements to define scope of new tool
- Represent the business line on enterprise-wide committees related to COTS design tool configuration and administration
- Direct software development of custom applications
- Lead the development / implementation of multidiscipline tools
- Knowledgeable of commercially available design tools and evaluate their use
- Ensure effective use of engineering execution tools
- Provides feedback to process owners on changes required due to new design software
- Suggest improvements to processes/standards based on use of commercial design software
- Review improvements to processes and standards based on knowledge of multiple design tools
- Provides input to existing and new process spanning multiple disciplines / tool sets
- Accountable for process ownership
- Keep abreast of emerging technologies in the area of responsibility and evaluate potential application through processes and standards of those technologies
- Support process owners in evaluation of commercial applications, including recommendations for selection
- Implementation of safety, security, quality and ethical standards as required
- Work with 3rd party software vendors to setup, maintain and upgrade databases, networks and servers to support commercial design software
- Review relational database changes to improve functionality of design system
- Architect systems / networks for new and existing tools
- Ensure configuration consistency across projects within the business line and consistent with other business lines
- Oversee preemptive monitoring and analysis of systems / networks
- Work with vendors to suggest tool improvement based on immerging technologies
- Drive changes in the IT tool architecture to stay current with advancements in technology and be consistent with industry standards and trends
- As a manager, provides direction to a group of design technologists
- Typically oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development
- May participate in compensation management, succession planning, disciplinary actions, employee relations and workforce planning
- Manages resources typically involving multiple lines of business or discipline
- Common responsibilities include staffing, recruiting, budgets, tools and/or processes
- Resolves resource conflicts and identifies training needs Influences and implements resource management strategy
- Administrative responsibilities typically include overseeing department operations, workforce planning, budgets, IT, office administration, facilities
