Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be eligible to practice law in Florida and must be a member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
• 2 years of professional experience as an attorney.

 

 

Preferences:

• Experience as a judicial law clerk.

• Experience in election law
• Experience in criminal law

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Serve as attorney for the Office of Election Crimes and Security (OECS).
• Review internal investigations into allegations of elections law violations and irregularities. Review OECS’s case files, each of which includes a compilation of documents related to each case and a recommendation from OECS staff. Determine whether further information is needed or if additional documentation should be included in the case file. Make additional criminal allegations or denote other irregularities of the case as necessary and remove allegations where the case file does not include a prima facie showing of a crime. Draft and issue referral letters to state and federal law enforcement, close out letters, fine letters, or additional correspondence necessary for each case. Close legally insufficient cases where there is no prima facie showing of a crime OECS has jurisdiction to investigate.
• Confer with law enforcement, agency partners, and specialists to obtain information or clarify facts relevant to each case. Confirm monthly the status of

every referred case with the appropriate law enforcement agency. Ensure tracking of all calendar deadlines and court dates for any voting or voter registration case in criminal, civil, or administrative litigation.
