The Cornell Biological Field Station is part of the Section of Natural Resources and the Environment of the School of Environment and Global Development and is an internationally renowned center for fisheries and aquatic research located on the shore of Oneida Lake.  The Field Station includes a small, protected harbor for research boats and has a number of laboratory, housing, storage, and maintenance buildings. The purpose of the position is to provide support in order for CBFS to perform its intended mission of excellence in research, teaching and outreach in environmental science, fisheries, and ecology.

The position is located within the Cornell Biological Field Station at Shackelton Point, Oneida Lake with require the outcome to organize, perform fisheries and limnological assessment, to generate annual estimates of abundance of important sport fishes on Oneida Lake, New York. 

This position will also require conducting sampling with various fishing gear including trawls, gillnets, seines, trap nets, electrofishing, as well as limnological sampling with nets and sondes.  Some samplings will be conducted at night.  Laboratory analysis includes age, growth, diet, and other tasks associated with specific projects.

The incumbent will also maintain electronic files of project data, conduct preliminary analyses of data, and provide summaries to principal investigators. Other responsibilities include  assisting in developing reports, papers and publications based on data collected, including preparation of graphics, as well as assisting with training programs for undergraduate students. 

The incumbent will need to maintain a safe working environment to ensure that all protocols and procedures adhere to safety protocols and procedures, as well as follow directions and complete required training that are provided by the Cornell Office of Occupational & Environmental Health in the College of Agriculture & Life Sciences.
