Company Description

The New York Red Bulls are one of 29 teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). RBNY, one of the ten charter clubs of MLS, have competed in the league since its founding in 1996. The Red Bulls play home matches at Red Bull Arena (RBA) in Harrison, New Jersey. The three-time MLS Supporters' Shield Winners are owned by the Austrian beverage company Red Bull for which the team is named. The New York Red Bulls offer one of the nation's premier youth soccer development programs, from local soccer partnerships across New York and New Jersey to Regional Development Schools and the Red Bulls Academy teams.

 

The position of Senior Manager IT Applications is responsible for the strategy, lifecycle and management of all technical aspects of the club’s applications landscape. This comprises the implementation of the digital application strategy and ensuring the effective operation of all applications. This position is part of the local RBNY Information Technology (IT) organization and also works closely with the Global Headquarters IT organization (HQ IT).

 

Because of the cyclical nature of the entertainment industry, your assigned hours may vary to reflect our needs (includes nights and weekends).

Job Description

APPLICATION MANAGEMENT

  • Develop and implement long term and short-term application strategy and solution portfolio, that aligns with the IT & business strategy.
  • Liaise with all business departments (Sales, Marketing, Legal, Sports, etc.), understand business demands and support business processes with innovative applications.
  • Implement proper application management along the application lifecycle (gathering requirements, design, architecture, development and QA, rollout, operations, end-of-life) and take over IT responsibilities for all relevant business applications for RBNY.
  • Responsible for researching, analyzing, designing, proposing and delivering solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
  • Responsible for the forecasting, planning, revision and controlling of IT application budgets.

SERVICE OWNERSHIP FOR ASSIGNED APPLICATIONS

  • Act as Application Owner and Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for selected business applications.
  • Define application strategy and roadmap in alignment with business departments.
  • Ensure application operations and proper support processes.
  • Plan and coordinate application maintenance.
  • Care for proper service definition and documentation.
  • Plan budget and control costs of applications.
  • Manage contracts and licenses of dedicated applications.
  • Ensure IT security of dedicated applications.
  • Organize and plan user trainings.
  • Cooperate with the HQ IT service organization and respective platform owners.

MANAGE AND IMPLEMENT IT APPLICATION PROJECTS

  • Lead and support projects according to the IT Project Management methodology.
  • Support business defining clear requirements and business scope.
  • Define IT requirements, create project plan and manage budgets.
  • Analyse and discuss business processes and functional/technical requirements.
  • Evaluate, propose, and select proper application solutions and vendors.
  • Monitor and report progress of projects.
  • Manage communication between business, IT partners and HQ IT.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience.

At least 5 years of professional experience in the IT sector - ideally background in a technical-operational role.

Technical knowledge of business applications (Solution Design/Architecture, Software Development Methodologies, Cloud Technologies, Data Modeling, IT Application Security, IT Service Management).

Proven track record in the implementation, management, and ongoing support of business applications.

Experience in IT project management or in managing IT services.

Collaborative and self-motivated personality.

Structured way of working, strong communication skills, solution and goal-oriented, team player.
