Overview:

 

At Zscaler, we're on a mission to make the internet safe for every user, anywhere. We seek a seasoned Principal Software Engineer, with a strong background in building highly scalable, distributed, cloud-native applications. This role offers the opportunity to influence the direction of our user experience of our cybersecurity products and significantly impact our global customer base.

 

Responsibilities:

• Build high-quality, clean, scalable and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)
• Work with the product owners, design and engineering to understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation and delivery of a high-quality unified platform to our users.
• Implement software partnering closely with the front end engineering team that allows a scalable and performant User Experience.
• Manage multiple projects with material technical risk across teams and processes; may serve as a functional lead or technical owner.
• Create quick prototypes, and POCs to show technical feasibility of complex unification topics around bringing multiple products into a single platform.
• Be a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharing.

 

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience designing/building enterprise-grade solutions using microservices.
• Passion and experience with recognizing, raising, and reconciling gaps and redundant efforts across organizations.
• Success with cross-company collaboration.
• Experience influencing and performance coaching engineers.
• Background in Java, SAML, oAuth2, noSQL DB, Postgres or similar technologies.
• Experience with decoupled message bus based architectures.
• Experience building RESTful endpoints.
• Demonstrated ability to build scalable, and performant systems from ground up.
• Experience designing solutions for deploying to public clouds with high availability and redundancy.
• Experience in container technologies.
• Proficient in design considerations for multi-tenancy.

Nice to have:

• Previous knowledge of network security domain
• Experience with generative AI or large language models and related technologies (e.g. integration Generative AI for data discovery, analytics). 
• Experience collaborating with data science, engineering, design, research and product partners in a team with a startup culture.

Education:

• M.S. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

The base salary range listed for this full-time position excludes commission/ bonus/ equity (if applicable) + benefits.

Base Pay Range$212,500—$250,000 USD
