JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Student Affairs Communications and Marketing is seeking a dynamic professional to join the team as an Assistant Director.
Student Affairs is a dynamic division of over 25 unique units that work to support students with a focus on co-curricular experiences. Our units focus on student health and wellness, involvement and student life, community and belonging, leadership and success, and support and safety. Our staff works to support student life by providing crucial programming and services that allow students to thrive at Penn State.
The assistant director oversees the storytelling and digital strategy for Student Affairs Communications and Marketing. This integral role works to elevate the work and awareness of Student Affairs and the 25+ unique units that comprise the division. The assistant director will work closely with the director and team to build and create marketing campaigns, source and write dynamic stories for news and development outlets, develop a content strategy for digital assets including the website and social media, and collaborate with a variety of colleagues to support their efforts.
The Student Affairs Communications and Marketing team works to elevate the work of our colleagues and inform students of critical resources and opportunities on campus. Critical to the role are strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work with a variety of personalities, and a focus on strategic thinking and innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Development: Oversee the strategy and creation of content that focuses on dynamic storytelling for news and development efforts.
Website Management: Work closely with the director to develop a content strategy for a very robust web presence to create impact and consistency, provide training and support for web editors. housed in units and utilize analytics to drive content decisions.
Digital Strategy: Lead digital marketing strategy and placements.
Social Media Oversight: Supervise the social media specialist role and ultimately the social media strategy and content creation for existing and future platforms.
