About the role

The Senior Accountant will play a key role at NewGround, working alongside the Accounting Manager on all aspects of Corporate Finance at NewGround. This includes budgeting / forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, month end close, and audit/tax compliance. This individual will work closely with the Accounting Manager and frequently with the Controller and CFO to keep NewGround finance on track.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist Accounting Manager with routine accounting activities and reporting (e.g. month-end close, financial statements, profitability analysis, variance to budget, etc.) to support strategic goals of the business.
    • Assist with compilation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for distribution to operational leaders, C-Suite, and Board of Directors.
    • Work with operational leaders to maintain the company forecast for each business unit. Understand the financial impact of projects throughout the organization. Perform analysis to provide financial insights to operational leaders.
    • Collaborate with business units in the US and Canada to prepare the annual budget. Work directly with Controller and CFO to finalize budget package.
    • Be a collaborative member of the Shared Services team (IT, Finance, HR, Legal) and stay up to date with key Company initiatives and objectives.
    • Become a trained user of the ERP system. Work with Accounting Manager and other finance team members achieve process improvements and automation within the system.
    • Assist with the annual audit and tax processes.

    WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

    • Obtain an understanding of the architecture and construction industry. See projects at all stages in the process, from idea, to concept, to completion.
    • Get firsthand experience working within an ERP system. Provide input and have a direct impact on new processes and automation.
    • Direct exposure to and routine communication with Controller, CFO, and operational leadership.

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES

    • 2-3 years of experience in accounting/finance roles
    • Experience with Microsoft products
    • CPA and public accounting (audit) experience preferred
