The Mail Intelligence team in Yahoo Mail powers all the smart features which help our users manage their Business of Life. The team works with the latest ML/AI technologies, handles big data, builds systems which perform at large scale. 

Responsibilities: 

• Tech Lead for projects involving many people (design, develop, ship and maintain) 

• Scope work and break it down into deliverables, milestones; Estimate and manage project timelines, risk

• Set technical direction for the team; Identify and reduce technical debt proactively

• Understand tradeoffs between technical, product, user, security, legal and develop solutions based on them

• Provide technical advice on projects involving multiple teams 

• Responsible for quality of the team delivery and ensuring knowledge is shared

• 8+ years Software development experience with 2+ years experience as Lead Engineer 

• Working experience with cloud native application development in GCP using Data Flow, Apache Beam, PubSub, Spanner etc

• Proficiency in Java and related technologies/frameworks, (e.g., Spring Boot, Hibernate, Maven/Gradle)

• Expertise in distributed software systems such as stream/batch processing, highly scalable serving systems 

• Proven experience building software systems which are highly scalable and performant 

• Experience cross collaborating with other functions such as Production Engineering, DevOps, Front End, Product management, UX Design

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

• Ability to work well with diverse groups of people, geographically dispersed across the world

• Passionate about and practical knowledge of working with Big data, AI/ML
