About the role

Amazon Pay, one of the fastest growing businesses within Amazon, is looking for a Senior Partner Development Manager to join our Americas team. With Amazon Pay, more than 300 million customers can use their Amazon account to make purchases or payments, using the payment methods they already use with Amazon. By sharing the ease and simplicity of selling to an Amazon customer, we help merchants grow their registered customer base and increase their sales.

As a Senior Partner Development manager, your responsibilities will include driving merchant engagement with leading partnerships. By establishing and growing business and technical relationships, and managing the day-to-day interactions with these partners, you will help to drive overall merchant and buyer adoption within the eCommerce segment.

The ideal candidate will possess a business background that enables them to engage at the buyer, merchant, or partner level, as well as a customer facing background that enables them to easily interact with partner contacts and Amazon Pay team members. He/she/they should also have a demonstrable ability to think big about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to convey compelling value propositions which help deliver partner results.


Key job responsibilities
• Own all amendments and renegotiations of existing partnership agreements. Will have varying levels of responsibility for recruiting, negotiating and executing partner agreements.
• Work with multiple business and technical teams within both Amazon Pay and each partner to define and execute joint product, marketing and sales initiatives.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders across the partnership.
• Execute partnership plans while working closely with internal stakeholders including finance, product & technology, legal, operations and customer service teams
• Communicating ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, to all types of audiences and not limited to writing narratives, business cases and other strategic documentation.
• Evaluate the economic and strategic cost-benefit of new opportunities
• Dive into and understand product functionality for a technical, e-commerce oriented solution

Basic Qualifications


  • Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations
  • Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
  • 10+ years of business development, partner management, and/or channel management experience.
  • External-facing relationship management (Account management, Sales, Channel Sales, Partner management)
  • Contract negotiation and execution.
  • Ability and willingness to dive into and understand product functionality for a technical, e-commerce oriented solution
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively while applying sound business judgment and quantitative analytics
  • Confidence working autonomously and dealing with ambiguity
  • Entrepreneurial, self-sufficient and able to operate in a fluid, ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to communicate across all levels of management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA
  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software
  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals
  • Prior experience in financial services/payments, particularly with regards to e-commerce, card payments, network brands, and acquiring.
  • Partner or channel management experience
  • Thoughtful leader with a solid understanding of financial services technologies and their intersection with commerce.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
