Job Summary:
BDO Capital is seeking a top-tier Managing Director to lead and build a Dallas-based investment banking group. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to source deals from a proprietary network, as well as through their own referral sources. It is hoped that the candidate will have a backlog of potential assignments that they will bring with them. Compensation is a base salary plus a bonus based on profitability and is competitive with the market. This will be an ideal role for a candidate that is a self-starter and is comfortable acting autonomously, while being given access to a proprietary network of middle-market focused accounting firms and referral sources.
Job Duties:
- Responsible for sourcing, pitching and executing middle market mergers and acquisitions as well as corporate finance transactions.
- Generation of business prospects with a minimum fee size of $500k
- Identification and acquisition of prospective clients and projects from external network and internal BDO sources
- Management of client needs and expectations and project elements for multiple client relationships simultaneously
- Provides leadership and guidance within a functional investment banking group in association with the administration of prospective client projects and transactions
- Participation and successful performance in formal credit training programs
- Develops solid understanding of and established relationships with strategic and financial buyers
- Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Supervises the day-to-day workload of BCA management and staff personnel on assigned engagements and reviews work product
- Ensures BCA management and staff personnel are trained on all relevant tax software
- Evaluates the performance of BCA management and staff personnel and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development
- Delivers periodic performance feedback and completes performance evaluations for BCA management and staff personnel
- Effectively manages a team of client service professionals and delegates work assignments as needed
- Acts as Career Advisor to BCA management and staff personnel, as appropriate
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or other relevant field required
- MBA or other advanced degree required
Experience:
- Ten (10) or more years of experience as a Managing Director at a middle market investment bank
License/Certifications:
- Must have FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses
Software:
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Advanced knowledge of all appropriate forms of debt related instruments
- Ability to price project plans to ensure highest level of profitability
- Proficiency in all phases of merger and acquisition process
- Knowledge of continuum of corporate finance products
- Ability to source debt and equity for client engagements
- Track record of sourcing and executing middle market M&A and corporate finance transactions with valuations of $10 million to $250 million
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Superior analytical and research skills
- Solid organizational skills with a focus on details
- Ability to successfully multi-task while working independently or with a group to meet multiple project simultaneously
- Ability to successfully interact with professionals at all levels
- Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel
- Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
- Executive presence and ability to act as primary contact on assigned engagements
- An extensive contact base focused on a current pipeline of potential clients
- Proven track record of growing an investment banking franchise
- Ability to develop a small, highly-experienced team for transaction execution
- Willingness to travel extensively to establish internal referral base and relationship network
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography. California Range: $200,000 - $250,000
