About the Team

Enterprise Services and Public Affairs (ESPA) team seeks to enhance and protect the reputation of Citi, its businesses and the brand through direct and indirect communication with Citi's various stakeholders, including our colleagues. The Global Communications team is a nimble team in ESPA that covers a broad scope of responsibilities, ranging from Executive communications and public engagements to quarterly earnings and corporate reputation programs as well as communications that support our lines of business. The nature of the work provides a dynamic environment where members of the team serve as company spokespeople to media, drive engagement with colleagues and develop external and internal digital communications for a global workforce. Within Citi, the team works with many internal partners, including senior leadership, and regularly coordinates closely with other members of the ESPA team across the world.

This role reports to the Director of CEO & Enterprise Communications.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a sharp, strategic and high-stamina communicator to join Citi’s CEO & Enterprise Communications team. As a key member of the team, you will help shape and execute internal and external communications strategies for Citi's CEO, Jane Fraser – supporting her as she leads Citi through a historic transformation. This includes developing high-visibility communications materials, strategic planning and managing high-profile engagements.

This is a fast-paced, intellectually rigorous role that requires a strong communications background, sound judgment, and a clear understanding of global business, financial services, and the broader macro environment. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute CEO communications strategies both internally and externally during an important time for the bank, financial services industry and global economy
  • Connect the dots across the firm to strategically tell a story of progress and transformation
  • Identify opportunities to maximize the impact of each communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Develop a wide range of communications materials, including engagement plans, media and speaking engagement briefing documents, internal talking points, video scripts and social media content
  • Work directly with the office of the CEO to ensuring alignment across all CEO activities, priorities and preparation plans, serving as a key liaison between Jane’s office and the CEO communications team
  • Manage relationships with reporters, handle media inquiries, and prepare briefing materials for CEO communications engagements
  • Partner with internal teams, subject matter experts, external agencies and peer communications teams to drive communications initiatives – ensuring the CEO shows up in the most impactful forums with the most critical audiences
  • Support high-profile enterprise-wide events such as the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, the Milken Institute Global Conference, Investor Day and the CEO's Client Leaders Forum
  • Manage issues and crisis communications that have potential reputational impact
  • Make thoughtful, strategic decisions to safeguard Citi’s reputation and ensure content complies with all relevant laws and policies
  • Leverage quantitative and qualitative insights to inform decisions, measure success and refine communications activities for the CEO and key firmwide initiatives
  • Mentor and guide junior team members

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, communications, marketing or another related field
  • 8+ years’ relevant experience in corporate communications, preferably within a global company or agency. Financial services experience is a plus
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies for C-suite/senior executives
  • Experience managing social media platforms for senior leaders
  • Strong relationships with members of the media, particularly financial and business journalists
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, with demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making skills during crises
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to a range of internal and external audiences
