How You’ll Make an Impact 

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for improving all aspects of Quality, with a focus on Manufacturing excellence.   Interacts with internal staff, suppliers and customers to address quality concerns and opportunities.   Position reports to the Manager of Quality.

What you’ll be doing as a Senior Quality Engineer:

  • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Chatsworth, California location.
  • Functions as designated PRB representative with authority to review and disposition MRR’s.
  • Provides timely disposition of MRR’s minimizing disruption to parts flow; to the extent possible minimizes MO splits due to disposition delays.
  • Reviews, analyzes and investigates internal and external rejections; analyzes root causes and recommends corrective action.
  • Reviews Supplier quality performance; works collaboratively with Suppliers to improve their quality performance; initiates and tracks Supplier corrective action results.
  • Provides real-time feedback to Manufacturing and Quality for preventive action, rework and/or rejection of product.
  • Reviews manufacturing plans; recommends corrections and changes to Engineering; approves final draft of manufacturing plans prior to release to Manufacturing.
  • Ensures processes, tools and training are in place to support all customer quality requirements.
  • Trains and tests employees in core skills including inspection techniques, shop math, blueprint reading, statistical techniques and principles of lean manufacturing.
  • Reviews receiving, in-process and final inspection activities for sufficiency; defines sampling requirements and recommends use of statistical methods.
  • Monitors implementation of SPC program, including data entry training and monitoring, data review and analysis and report generation. 
  • Reviews and analyzes SPC data; makes process improvement and corrective action recommendations to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Quality.

Required Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience):

  • Minimum of 10 years in an aerospace manufacturing environment (preferably aerospace machining), with specialization in inspection and quality systems.
  • Demonstrated success in developing, monitoring and maintaining aerospace quality systems, processes, tools and techniques.
  • Ability to read and interpret customer drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products appropriate to the execution of assigned tasks. 
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Work Environment:
