Job Overview: 

The AVP, Alternative Due Diligence will be an integral part of the team within WMS and is responsible for the sourcing and review of alternative investment products for the LPL platform, including credit, real estate, infrastructure, private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, and tax solutions, business development companies, interval funds and tender-offer funds, hedge funds, capital call vehicles including private equity and real assets, and other similar products. The role will involve collaboration with multiple internal groups and require strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work within tight deadlines. The AVP will contribute to the WMS group’s goals of delivering a highly competitive set of investment solutions. This role also maintains strong relationships with LPL’s investment manager partner firms to collaboratively deliver the necessary tools, resources, and communications that help LPL Financial advisors remain competitive.

Responsibilities: 

  • Review and cover universe a variety of products within the alternative investment space but may be refined to focus on asset classes where the candidate exhibits expertise.

  • Passion for investing and tireless intellectual curiosity regarding markets, investment managers, and investments of all types. 

  • Presentations to LPL’s Product Review Committees

  • Assist in the onboarding of new products by coordinating with sponsor firms and various internal groups including Operations, Compliance, Legal, and Product Risk Management

  • Creation of training and education material to benefit advisors and advisor-facing personnel on alternative investment products with a focus on credit strategies

  • Expand coverage areas within Alternative Investments as need arises

  • Contribute to broader WMS team projects 

  • Participate in industry events and build out network of peer and industry contacts in the Alternative Investment space

Requirements: 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience performing due diligence and on alternative investment products, ideally with exposure to credit-oriented products

  • -7 years of experience in the financial services industry, ideally at a broker dealer.

  • FINRA Series 7 and 66 license required (either have or be willing to obtain soon after hiring)

  • Ability to set and meet hard deadlines and drive to results while being able to re-prioritize as needed

  • Unimpeachable ethical standards, with an innate ability to build trust and strong relationships

  • Ability to cogently communicate research and investment content both orally and written to different audiences, including investment managers, advisors, executive management, and clients

  • Emphasis on asking questions and challenging standard answers

  • Demonstrate self-motivation, tenacity, strategic and critical thinking, attention to detail, and a passion for investing. 

Preferences: 

  • Experience with analysis of credit-based investment products 

  • CFA charter, MBA, and/or CAIA designation 

  • Prior experience managing a team
