About the Role

We are looking for a Department Manager, Quality to join our rapidly growing venture-backed company. The Department Manager, Quality will oversee the Quality department’s workflows, equipment, team members, and quality.  In this role, you will manage a team of 21+ QC technicians in a state of the art and digital-only facility in Dallas, TX. You will be responsible for ensuring that orders are fabricated at the highest quality standards per customer deadlines. What You'll Do

  • Drive Improvements: Serve as the go-to individual with firsthand insights on workflow, equipment, and capacity improvement opportunities to help drive high quality products

  • Problem Solve: Roll up your sleeves to quickly troubleshoot and solve process, equipment and/or technology issues as you operate within a large scale and fast paced dental lab

  • Quality Adherence: Uphold strict manufacturing quality standards (e.g., equipment maintenance and repair) and lead by example. High quality is key to efficient scalability!

  • Collaborate: Work with other team members to identify and quickly address bottlenecks

  • Manage: Supervise Quality technicians to ensure that orders are processed effectively and in a timely manner

  • Data Analysis: Prepare reports & analyze data for day-to-day tasks that may  be used to monitor and measure success

  • Train: Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and a mentor to new & existing team members

  • Cross Train: Cross-train in multiple departments as needed to support high quality operations

  • Report directly to the facility’s Director of Operations

What We're Looking For

  • 7-10+ years of experience working and/or managing quality departments within a manufacturing setting  

  • Ability to be full-time onsite in Dallas location Mon-Fri 

  • Proven track record of improving KPIs at a team and/or department level

  • Comfortable performing data analysis and making decisions based on the results

  • Experience reporting on performance metrics during recurring business meetings

  • Passion for breaking down complex problems into smaller manageable steps in order to help team members effectively work through the ambiguity

  • High level of comfort with digital tools and technology

  • Very high attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Excellent people manager who loves to motivate and create a positive employee culture

  • Natural curiosity and ability to learn new concepts, tools, and workflows quickly

  • Strong self-motivation, self-direction, and ability to work with multiple stakeholders to push improvement initiatives to completion

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Bonus Points For

  • Previously built and/or led Quality departments in a manufacturing environment, including the operational infrastructure (e.g., written SOPs)

  • Recognized Graduate, CDT or higher certification

  • Built and/or led a dental lab’s quality department with 10+ technicians

  • Specifically oversaw quality of crowns, bridges, implants, and removables

  • Outstanding professional references to share

  • Relentlessly positive attitude, strong sense of humor, and the ability to have fun at work
