Position Overview

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse – Complex Urology (Outpatient) to support our highly specialized surgical urology population. This role provides comprehensive care coordination for patients with complex urologic conditions, including collaborative GYN and colorectal cases requiring multidisciplinary management.

The Complex Urology RN serves as a central point of contact for patients and families, ensuring seamless care before, during, and after surgical interventions. This position plays a critical role in supporting optimal outcomes through proactive coordination, patient education, and collaboration across specialties.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate care for complex surgical urology patients across the outpatient continuum

Support collaborative care for urology, gynecology, and colorectal patients with overlapping or multisystem conditions

Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient education and follow-up

Triage phone calls and electronic messages (e.g., MyChart), addressing clinical questions and concerns

Coordinate diagnostic testing, specialty referrals, and surgical scheduling

Collaborate with surgeons, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and ancillary services to ensure cohesive care plans

Monitor patient progress and escalate concerns as appropriate

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to complex surgical care

Minimum Qualifications

Current Ohio Registered Nurse license

2 Years nursing experience

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required per institutional standards

Pediatric, surgical, or outpatient specialty experience preferred

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex care coordination

Excellent communication skills and commitment to family-centered care
