Job Description

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Senior Logistics Officer will lead and oversee trade compliance and logistics operations, with primary responsibility for LMW (Licensed Manufacturing Warehouse) compliance and Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program management. This role ensures adherence to local and international trade laws, regulations, and requirements, while driving operational excellence across logistics functions. Wider logistics experience, including freight, warehousing, and supply chain coordination, is highly desirable.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Trade Compliance Leadership

  • Represent the company in dealings with Malaysian Customs, MITI, and other regulatory authorities on LMW and AEO matters.
  • Manage day-to-day trade compliance activities, including import/export permits, HS classification, export licensing, restricted party screening, and Certificates of Origin.
  • Conduct site self-assessments, compliance audits, and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and advise management on impacts and required adjustments.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training to relevant functions.
  • LMW & AEO Oversight
  • Ensure full compliance with LMW requirements for imports, exports, and customs duty reliefs.
  • Lead implementation and maintenance of AEO standards, ensuring continuous alignment with MITI-approved compliance programs.
  • Maintain product and technology classification databases and ensure accuracy in SAP or equivalent ERP systems.

Logistics Operations

  • Oversee outbound and inbound logistics, including coordination with freight forwarders, 3PLs, and packaging subcontractors.
  • Ensure timely preparation of shipping documentation (Delivery Notes, Packing Lists, Customs Invoices).
  • Drive efficiency in warehousing, inventory accuracy, and cycle counting.
  • Monitor KPIs, lead Quarterly Business Reviews with service providers, and ensure contractual service delivery.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement structural improvements in logistics and compliance processes.
  • Support cost optimization initiatives, including freight spend analysis and reporting.
  • Promote best practices in logistics and trade compliance across the site.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) required.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years in customs compliance, LMW regulations, strategic goods control, and trade compliance.
  • Proven experience in developing and deploying compliance policies and programs approved by MITI.
  • Strong background in logistics operations (shipping, warehousing, freight management) preferred.    

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Proficient in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong knowledge of Malaysian trade laws, AEO requirements, Incoterms, and international compliance standards.
  • ERP literate; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Assertive, detail-oriented, and compliance-driven, with strong organizational and negotiation skills.
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work under deadline pressures.
