About the role

The Employee Relations (ER) Director will manage the majority of regional ER Partners. Responsible for strategic oversight and leadership of the ER Partners that provides consultation on employee relations issues, termination issues, and legal and compliance issues, and takes appropriate actions on those fronts. Promotes fair, equitable resolution of cases and investigations as well as providing an efficient experience to stakeholders interacting with the department (team members, leaders and HR partners). 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Creates and directs the development of in-service employee training.
  • Ensures compliance with human resource policies and procedures.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Partners with the IU School of Medicine

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads the regional ER Partners.
  • Works in partnership with ER team, HRPBs and Legal Department and relevant partners to lead thorough and objective investigations regarding complaints of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct and serious policy violations.
  • Partner with ER Executive Director to develop strategies to proactively develop solutions to address trends to support attraction, retention and development of talent and capabilities across the business.
  • Analyze ER trends and recommend actions, solutions and strategies to address opportunities
  • Develops and pursues new goals and objectives for improvement in areas of employee relations.
  • Assists leaders in understanding and implementing company policies related to performance, discipline, and related topics.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Public Administration, or related field required; Masters degree preferred.
  • Requires 10+ years of relevant Employee Relations experience with at least 3 years of leadership experience.
  • Human Resources certification strongly preferred (e.g. PHR, SHRM-CP)
  • Thorough understanding of human resources and labor relations principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent management skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with employees, boards, officials, directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compile, research, and analyze information.
  • Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports.
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to analyze data and provide insights for improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
