Summary

A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), under general supervision, engages in evidenced-based practice related to the delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services, general behavior treatment, and parent/family training. An employee of this class performs functional and other behavior assessments and treatment plan development based on the principles of ABA for both skill acquisition and behavior deceleration for individuals receiving services; works with consumers/family/caregivers to explain and implement assessment conclusions and treatment recommendations; trains paraprofessional behavior technician staff and caregivers, and performs other related duties as required.

Examples of duties

1. Must possess a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university. 
2. Be certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
3. Be licensed as a Behavioral Analyst through the State of Michigan (LBA).
4. Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a Michigan Driver License within 30 days of employment.
5. Must have reliable transportation that may have to be used to carry out job duties of this classification.
 
Preferred but not Required
1. Bilingual candidates highly desired.
2. Lived experiences with mental illness/developmental disabilities/substance use disorders valued.
3. Individuals in Recovery and individuals with experience in Armed Services valued.

Qualifications

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
An employee of this class must be in good physical condition allowing for the lifting of objects weighing up to thirty-five (35) pounds and for standing or walking for extended periods of time.  Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and pull to perform various tasks and to work with children and adults.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
This employee generally works in the offices of HealthWest, although travel in and out of Muskegon County may be required.

EVALUATION CONTENT

Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check.  Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent.
