The Senior Category Manager will lead Carriers centralized $180M+ Copper and Aluminum categories spend. This role is a key part of the CSA Supply Chain organization, reporting to the Associate Director for Copper & Aluminum Sourcing Leader.
This leader is responsible for providing sustained competitive advantage in product cost, quality, and production flexibility across Carrier’s NA footprint, and will be responsible for working across the business units, functions, and all NA locations to develop and implement best-in-class sourcing strategies and procedures. This leader will play a key role in driving transformation within Carrier’s supply chain organization to provide the company significant savings, increasing productivity, managing inflation/deflation, and driving excellence in category strategy
Job Responsibilities:
Manages global category spend for approximately $180M.
Responsible for building and executing category strategy for Copper and Aluminum material which optimizes affordability, availability, agility, and innovation. Develop and maintain expert knowledge of respective global supply markets, competitors, and product innovations.
Establishes a cross-functional network and fosters collaboration with suppliers, wider supply chain organization, engineering, quality, and product management
Owns the vendor performance data and reports metrics to leadership
Manages external relationships with suppliers and assumes responsibility for all internal activities and decisions associated with the assigned categories and suppliers, including contract negotiations, new products development, approved vendor lists, re-sourcing, dual qualification, pricing changes, quality, and capacity.
Develop the commodity management team to drive global performance in collaboration with regional commodity teams and the Center of Excellence team.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor degree
7+ year’s experience with strategic sourcing for a global industrial manufacturer
30% travel including some international trips
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA or professional certifications (CPM, CPSM, CIRM, CPIM)
Excellent negotiation skills & strategic mindset
Experience with strategic sourcing and lean tools
Digital dexterity and strong analytical ability to leverage data
Strong knowledge of supply chain strategy (development and execution) and category specific experience
Driven problem solver with appetite to independently address complex challenges in a fast-moving environment
Proven track record of successful leadership, negotiation, and executive communication
Strong business acumen and experience collaborating across various levels within a diverse, global organization
Pay Range
The annual salary for this position is between $117,500.00 - $234,500.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.Other Compensation
