The Business Intelligence Center (BIC) supports AlixPartners’ global business development, marketing initiatives and engagement efforts. The team delivers research support for our consultants, identifies new potential business opportunities, supports pitches and pursuit teams, analyses market trends, tracks competitor activity and participates in internal knowledge development – a key competitive advantage of our senior model.
We are looking to grow our team with an Automotive & Industrial Research Associate. You will work closely with global and EMEA Automotive & Industrial practice (A&I), providing strategic support on business development and client project requests for research. We are seeking candidates who have experience in providing business research, market intelligence, or financial reporting and who have either experience working on automotive or industrials research projects or have an affinity to the sector and burning desire to grow their knowledge.
The Automotive & Industrial Research Associate is a full-time permanent position reporting into a Senior Vice President leading the Automotive and Industrials Industry Research service provision in EMEA. This is a full-time permanent position with preferred locations of either Düsseldorf (Germany), Munich (Germany) or London (UK).
Your research role will be focused on macro- (industry) and micro- (company) level market intelligence, market analysis, financial analysis, and supporting our consulting teams with business development and client deliverables. Responsibilities and tasks include:
- Perform independent, creative research and market analysis, use internal and external sources to process project and pitch-critical company information and elaborate findings for the A&I and BIC teams
- Support or drive research & analysis to support non-company specific business development, engagements, and marketing campaigns
- Analyze competitor and market intelligence across A&I industry segments; derive insights and produce files, reports and presentations of findings, benchmarks, and insights
- Identify new business opportunities using a broad range of research tools and a consideration of changing business, technology, economic, legal, and industry dynamics
- Support primary research, typically surveys, and work with external research providers to ensure quality and timely delivery of market intelligence

What you’ll need
- Professional experience in a market research or consulting role; ideally with an Automotive & Industrial focus
- Master’s degree with a preference for business or financial based subjects or for academic or professional journalism with an Automotive & Industrial focus
- Sound judgment, common sense, and problem-solving ability
- Committed to the success of the team, ability to cooperate with others and work across boundaries to engage with colleagues to get things done
- Curious and able to find creative and practical solutions, desire to innovate and improve status quo for betterment of the global BIC team, A&I practice and the firm
- Ability to conduct financial, situation, and performance analyses and research on companies and the industry, which includes managing resources and identifying best sources for industry data
