About the role

Overview

CFR’s David Rockefeller Studies Program is one of the country’s largest foreign policy think tanks with a widely respected and influential research staff. The Studies Program aims to advance the discussion of American foreign policy and international affairs through its writing, publications, public outreach, and discussions.

As part of the Studies Program, the research associate will support the work of the fellow for trade policy on the areas of trade, international economics, and foreign policy. The research associate will also support the work of other programs within the Studies Program.

The major responsibilities of this position will include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching specific areas as requested by the fellow for articles, book chapters, and other publications

  • Coordinating events, including preparing invitations, travel arrangements, corresponding with speakers and presiders, helping to prepare background papers and materials for distribution, and providing other logistical support

  • Providing administrative support to the fellow

  • Assisting with managing budgets, including preparing budgets, tracking monthly statements, and preparing vouchers for reimbursement

  • Assisting fellow with social media outreach, including publishing a blog, website, video, and/or using social media applications such as Twitter, Facebook, etc., as needed

  • Providing support across departmental lines and for other fellows, upon request

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in economics, political science, law, or related field with strong academic credentials required. Master's degree preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven interest in U.S. trade policy and international trade law required

  • Familiarity with trade institutions and trade policy making preferred

  • Administrative and/or internship experience

  • Strong research, proofreading, and editing skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

  • Knowledge of MS Word and Excel, and preferably experience with ProQuest and similar research databases

  • Spanish language skills a bonus

Pay Range

$51,000 to $54,000 per year

Pay commensurate with experience and education
