About the role

The Manager of Risk Management is responsible for overseeing daily operations and staff within the department, ensuring the effective implementation of strategies to minimize organizational risk, liability, and exposure. This role supports patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement through risk assessment, staff education, and incident management.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Monitor departmental performance, identify operational gaps, and implement corrective actions to meet risk management and quality goals.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain risk management policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory standards and organizational objectives.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, evaluate, and mitigate risks, and support improvement initiatives.

  • Lead and manage facility-wide risk assessments, incident investigations, and internal reporting of actual or potential risks.

  • Educate staff on risk protocols, incident reporting, and patient safety to foster a culture of safety and compliance.

  • Oversee the investigation and management of legal claims and suits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to legal inquiries and discovery requests.

  • Provide input on department budgeting and resource planning to support operational effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Risk Management, or related field preferred

  • 3–5 years of experience in healthcare risk management, compliance, or quality assurance required

  • 1–2 years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of healthcare risk management and regulatory compliance

  • Strong skills in policy development, budgeting, and quality oversight

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels

  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for identifying and addressing risk trends

Licenses and Certifications:

  • CPHRM (Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management) preferred
