In this role, you will transform complex healthcare and financial data into meaningful insights that inform the design, strategy, and performance of Duke’s employee benefits programs.

You’ll play a critical part in ensuring data accuracy, analyzing trends, validating financial performance, and supporting compliance activities. Minimum Requirements

  • B.A. / B.S. from an accredited institution, preferably in Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Practical and extensive plan performance and financial analysis experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Three years of experience in financial analysis, information gathering, and reporting. Proficiency in financial analysis tools and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in robust data analysis, data storage, and data transfer.
  • Experience with PL/SQL and managing large data feeds and data validation.
  • Experience using visual analytics software such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Experience in project management, census building, or ERISA/ACA compliance.

Other Requirements

  • Handle HIPAA‑level sensitive data and maintain privacy/security in all data processes.
  • Download, process, upload, and manage datasets within Duke and with external vendors.
  • Support compliance with Department of Labor and IRS regulations, including Form 5500 and Form 1095‑C.

This position is remote, occasional on-site visits.

Be Bold.

Position Description (Essential Duties)

  • Support the Associate Director of Benefits, Financial Performance & Quality Assurance in project organization and management.
  • Collect, clean, organize, and analyze data related to Duke’s benefit plans.
  • Explore trends, patterns, and relationships across demographics, utilization, and program costs.
  • Reconcile financial detail and determine benefit program effectiveness.
  • Create written and visual reports using analytic tools; present findings in meetings.
  • Assist with audit activities, actuarial analyses, and special projects requiring data analysis.
  • Manage data feeds to vendor analytics platforms and maintain data governance standards.
  • Provide liaison support to HRIC, Payroll, and Finance departments.
  • Research benefits information needs and respond to ad hoc reporting requests.
