Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer for immediate employment in Orange or San Diego, California.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
- Senior technical resource may serve as technical advisor for team
- Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
- Develops study and design procedures to facilitate high quality cost effective work by others.
- Participates in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
- Develops construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
- Uses expertise in all steps of completing discipline component of design package.
- Performs quality control review of design calculations or drawings.
- Prepares technical specification sections.
- Provides input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements.
- Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
- Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident
- Able to complete Electrical engineering from conceptual design through construction administration and post-occupancy
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule.
- Review and approve shop drawings and attend client meetings during the construction administration phase
- Proposal preparation in conjunction with the senior leadership of the office
- Writing assessment or feasibility reports for internal and external purposes based on findings
- Works cooperatively with the Managing Principal or MEP Practice Leader in evaluating staffing needs
- Works cooperatively with managers and other employees to achieve quality results
- Ensures design meets overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule
- Stays current on codes and technologies appropriate to the electrical disciplines
- Ensures conformance with standards, established design practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction
- Researches, develops, designs, specifies and witnesses the testing of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering
- Organizes and conducts site visits for the purpose of data collection and evaluation of electrical systems, equipment, components and materials for projects
- Directs activities to verify installed electrical systems, equipment, components and materials conform to the requirements of project contract documents
- Provides guidance to entry level engineers.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Licensed Professional Engineer
Preferred Qualifications:
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience within a consulting or design-build firm
- Experience with Revit and AutoCAD based design projects
- Competent in all conventional aspects of electrical engineering and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard electrical engineering techniques, procedures and criteria
- Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive, and confident
- Experience with sustainable design

Offered rate of compensation (California locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $110,000 - $150,000.
