Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Manager of Resource Geology to play a key leadership role within our West Region. This position offers the opportunity to lead high‑impact geological modeling and mineral resource estimation efforts that support major mining projects from early-stage evaluation through feasibility and execution. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and collaborative leadership to deliver high‑quality geological solutions while working closely with multidisciplinary teams and clients around the world. This role is ideal for a resource geologist who is passionate about technical excellence, leading teams, and contributing to strategic project outcomes in a dynamic consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead and oversee mineral resource estimation activities in accordance with applicable reporting codes and standards, including NI 43‑101 and JORC.
  • Develop, review, and validate geological interpretations, 3D geological models, and block models for a variety of deposit types.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor QA/QC protocols to ensure data quality, integrity, and defensibility of geological databases and models.
  • Provide technical review and sign-off on geological deliverables, ensuring consistency with industry best practices and AECOM standards.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert, providing guidance and mentoring to junior and mid-level geologists.

Project Delivery and Management

  • Manage geology workstreams across scoping studies, prefeasibility studies, feasibility studies, and active project phases.
  • Coordinate closely with mining engineering, geotechnical, environmental, and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and resourcing to meet client objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities related to resource definition and geological uncertainty.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations, clearly communicating geological concepts and study outcomes.

Advisory and Business Support

  • Contribute to technical due diligence assignments, independent reviews, and public or internal reporting.
  • Support exploration strategy development, resource growth planning, and mine development decision-making.
  • Assist with proposal development, scope definition, and technical inputs for new pursuits.
  • Stay informed of emerging industry trends, tools, and methodologies related to resource geology and geostatistics.

Team Leadership

  • Provide direct supervision, technical oversight, and mentoring to staff
  • Plan, assign, and balance workloads across geology team members to support project schedules, quality objectives, and utilization targets.
  • Review and approve geological models, interpretations, and technical deliverables prepared by staff to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards.
  • Support the professional development of team members through coaching, on‑the‑job training, and contribution to performance feedback and evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment that promotes knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and alignment with AECOM’s safety, quality, and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology or a related discipline and 10+ years of relevant resource geology and mineral resource estimation experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
