Job Summary
The work of a TWU Cargo Ramp loads and unloads cargo on and off aircraft; the transporting of cargo between terminals and aircraft. Remain cognizant of WFS staff, security contractors, and visitors’ activities and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance with the site security plan to managers or via the WFS whistleblower program. Comply with WFS site security plan for assigned warehouse. This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.

Responsibilities
- Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure.
- Load and unload cargo on and off aircraft.
- Safely drive and operate ground support equipment, including belt loaders and tugs to pick-up and deliver cargo between the terminal, warehouse and aircraft.
- Perform ground service functions, such as connecting/removing ground power and ground start units and water service.
- Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking and related guide man functions.
- Maintain a secure work environment.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo (up to 50 lbs or more)
- Valid Driver's license, must be maintained throughout employment in this role
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
- Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety protocols
- Fluently read, write, and speak the English language
**This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union which requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.**
Preferred Skills
- Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations
- Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout
- Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in the airport environment
- Experience operating ground support equipment, such as tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills for effective communication with colleagues
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for completing paperwork and using scheduling systems
- Strong customer service orientation and a positive attitude toward passenger interactions
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
- Ability to lift, push, pull cargo up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally up to 75 lbs
- Frequent standing, walking, and moving throughout the airport terminal or warehouse
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, and climb stairs
