Software Engineer II (Networking, Python, C/C++)

Location: Sunnyvale, CA (Hybrid – 4 days onsite)

We are seeking a Software Engineer II to design, develop, and maintain control plane software for Layer 2 networking technologies. In this role, you will contribute to building scalable, high-performance networking solutions, working across the full software development lifecycle from design and implementation to testing and debugging.  You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality systems software, while also influencing system architecture and hardware compatibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement enhancements for systems software and networking components, including control plane features

  • Analyze requirements and determine appropriate coding, integration, and development approaches

  • Develop, test, troubleshoot, and debug software for new features and product enhancements

  • Contribute to test planning, automation, and validation, ensuring software quality and reliability

  • Identify issues, perform root cause analysis, and recommend code improvements and optimizations

  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to drive project execution, design alignment, and issue resolution

  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem-solving

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in software development

  • Strong proficiency in C/C++, including data structures and debugging

  • Working knowledge of Python and test automation frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework)

  • Experience with networking fundamentals (Layer 2 technologies preferred)

  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle, testing methodologies, and debugging tools

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing software for multi-platform environments

  • Familiarity with networking systems, routers, and distributed systems

  • Exposure to automation, CI/CD pipelines, and test scripting tools
