Senior Credit Underwriter

About the role

  • Prepare detailed written analysis of current and prospective commercial customer credit requests in a timely manner, concisely identifying relevant credit risks and mitigating factors.
  • Understanding of various issues within the trucking industry and fair understanding of the market/clientele/economic issues affecting potential financing deals.
  • Execute ongoing monitoring of assigned portfolio of accounts, completing annual renewals ahead of expirations and identifying potential problem accounts for enhanced monitoring.
  • Consult regularly with internal clients (i.e. Commercial and Collections teams) and external customers vas necessary in completing credit-related requests, including underwriting, contract documentation and obtaining necessary deal structure requirements when applicable.
  • Obtain, investigate, and analyze credit data.
  • Assist other team members on an as-needed basis in support of a “one team” approach to portfolio management.
  • Adhere to credit and operational policies and procedures, including completion of routine know-your-customer due diligence.
  • Familiar with Canadian and US personal and corporate credit bureau reports, checks, rating methodology

    • Requirements

  • 3+ years of Credit Management experience in transportation and logistics field is preferred.
  • Relevant post-secondary education with a Diploma/Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • Previous experience in an analyst role and or in pricing function is an asset.
  • Ability to understand the business processing requirements using technology and conceptualize creative solutions to implement them.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills & strong interpersonal and customer relation skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven closing ability
  • Ability to function independently with little or no supervision as well as function in a team environment.
