In this position…

The position requires working closely with Planning and Vehicle Architecture to develop the best scenarios for the given bandwidth of products and existing Unibody Architecture in terms of platform cost, reuse/cross sharing, influence sourcing strategy through scale and reuse, and deliver 30-40% reductions in engineering for subsequent bundles/programs (when measured off first bundle).   In addition, lead the Strategic Architecture Development and T-Milestone delivery for future C2, Affordable SUV, CUV, S650, and Explorer including EREVs, PHEVs, and EVs programs within Unibody Family of programs. 

What you'll do…

  • Define architecture fixed & variable parameters
  • Work with planning ahead of new concept kick-off, confirm new concepts fit architecture / shared tech bandwidth
  • Drive alignment on technical scope of work for architecture updates - future derivatives covered (what non-cycle plan product to protect)
  • Assess / summarize technical, capability, attribute, package, geometric, proportion bandwidth (TMR, TPS, TSC)
  • Drive system selection with Vehicle Hardware and Module/ VHM Functional Architects and Attribute leaders to make the optimal enterprise decisions for reliability, cost efficiency, and capital strategies
  • Lead team through each ‘T’ milestone GPDS 3.8 deliverables
  • Serve as a global “go to” person for all Unibody Flexible Vehicle Architecture needs
  • Represent FVA in executing vision for the “Voice of Customer” at key management reviews
  • Balance Architecture tradeoff decisions and present alternate options/proposals 
  • Lead platform design and development that meets part reuse target, adheres w/modular catalogue reuse, and overall program complexity target.
  • Establish HTIS Quality and RCL plans.
  • Lead virtual energy room and alignment meetings for significant FVA topics related to next generation UniBody/Legacy architecture to serve bandwidth of products
  • Ensure low-cost bandwidth is met leveraging surrogate BOM
  • Lead seismic changes impacting base scaling / fixed architecture parameters post TSC

You'll have…

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering 
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Vehicle Architecture and/or Attribute delivery through all program phases 
  • Vehicle Architecture experience in mechanical package, hardpoint development, system selection for a bandwidth of products off a common scaled Architecture
  • FVA experience in strategy/planning of key architecture systems across the bandwidth 
  • Program vehicle integration and attribute experience in leading a program through pre-PSC milestones
  • Managing energy rooms for significant topics
  • Knowledge and experience in material cost contribution, BC@J1 process, 4 Lens Process and a strong sense in driving decision that focus on efficient Flexible Vehicle Architecture Development
  • Knowledge and experience in vehicle level requirements and test procedures
  • Knowledge and experience in HMI and digital user interface
  • Total vehicle knowledge of attributes, commodity hardware, and systems interactions to drive the team to a great outcome for the customer and design simplification
  • Passion for technology, strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Skilled in consolidating stakeholder input for senior leadership decision making
  • Demonstrated ability to concisely frame complex product and business scenarios
  • Motivated self-starter that can manage multiple tasks and workstreams
  • Adaptive to frequent shifts in direction while working within a dynamic environment
  • Ability to work closely with cross functional partners particularly EPE, R&A, Chassis, Safety, Durability, Studio, Planning, and Team Edison
  • Demonstrate Ford + Always On leadership skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
