A little taste of your day to day

In accordance with hotel standards and established InterContinental policies and procedures; greet arriving guests with a smile and friendly attitude and seat them at the first available table; answer telephone in a professional and cordial manner and assist Managers in record keeping functions.

 

Every day is different but mostly you'll be

• Ensure that lights are at the proper level.
• Determine that table and area are clean before seating guests.
• Invite guests to be seated by moving their chair away from the table and offer to check coats and hats.
• Monitor that guests receive prompt service.
• Offer to help server if necessary.
• Avoid spending too much time away from the stand.
• Notify Housekeeping if any areas of the outlet(s) need immediate attention. Likewise, report to the Supervisor any physical hazards (wet floor, etc)
• Report any lapse in service to management in order to ensure appropriate service recovery.  Be receptive to customer complaints and note down accurate information. 
• Do not leave your shift without notifying the Manager. 
• Assist in set up of room and service of food and beverages to guests as assigned to ensure optimum service to guests.
• Assist in cashiering procedures where time demand exists.
• Take, record and relay messages in accordance with standards.
• Legibly document maintenance needs on work orders and submit to Manager.
• Attend menu and wine tastings as scheduled.

 

What we need from you

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one year experience in a similar position dealing with general public in a food & beverage setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language - to perform the job successfully, an individual will demonstrate proficient use of the English language as defined here.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math - ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning - ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Tech Savvy -  to perform this job successfully, an individual will have knowledge of and point of sales systems and reservations software/systems.

 

What you can expect from us

The hourly pay range for this role is $23.2425 to $30.99. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed at InterContinental San Francisco. This is the lowest to highest pay scale we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. An employee’s pay position within the pay range will be based on several factors including, but limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.
