About the role
Position Summary:
The Jr. Electrical Field Engineer provides technical support on industrial construction and fabrication projects. They are responsible for electrical, instrumentation, and fire & gas scope. They provide direct support to both staff and craft personnel.
Essential Job Functions:
- Become familiar with project specifications, drawings, and contract.
- Interface with client representatives, client’s design contractors, client’s field contractors, and client’s Operations & Maintenance groups.
- Assist with job estimating using job estimating software. Perform job and task scheduling, construction tool/equipment selection, and plan the construction means & methods. Advise the project scheduler on upcoming work.
- Perform material take-offs and scrubs. Quote and requisition materials. Work with materials and logistics group to schedule and prioritize material deliveries.
- Prepare tag lists, nameplate schedules, and turnover packages. Maintain project logs. Write and distribute project reports.
- Identify, engage, and oversee subcontractors required for the project.
- Learn, advise, and assist the Quality Control process and the Turnover process.
- Identify and mitigate any health, safety, or environmental hazards.
- Identify project gaps and discrepancies before they are an issue. Write requests for information (RFI’s). Track and address RFI responses, to include submittal of Change Orders, Field Material Requests, redline markups, and briefing craft personnel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field. Associates or 2yr Technical Degree in a E/I/F&G-related field is acceptable with additional experience. High School Diploma or GED is also acceptable with additional experience.
- 1 year of experience working as electrical craft personnel or working directly with electrical craft personnel. This experience must be in either heavy industry or construction.
- 3 years of experience required for related Associates / 2yr Technical Degree.
- 7 years of experience required for High School/GED.
- Experience working in cold weather (<20F), and knowledge of the effects of cold weather on operating instrumentation and electrical mechanisms.
- Familiarity with NEC.
- Proven fluency with computers, including ability to quickly learn new software systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Current and valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- High School/GED only: Electrical Journeyman license.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years as a field/project engineer for industrial electrical construction.
- Electrical Journeyman license.
- EIT or PE registration.
- Preference will be given to applicants with any of the following: Previous field/project engineer experience in construction; experience with Oil & Gas; experience with software commonly used such as SharePoint, Bluebeam, Visio, SAP, AutoCAD, P6, and/or Navisworks.

- Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to work with personnel from all walks of life.
