The Sr. Manager, Human Resources is responsible for supporting workforce planning and culture engagement initiatives, ensuring alignment with company objectives. Additionally, the Sr. Manager, Human Resources will support the oversight of recruitment within a shared services model and ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. The role is key to fostering an inclusive, high-performance workplace culture and supporting organizational success through strategic HR practices. This role is based in San Diego, CA, and reports to the Head of Human Resource.

Job Responsibilities

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

• Track and analyze HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement. Prepare and present reports to senior management.

• Partner with HR leadership to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR best practices and legal requirements.

• Support the existing Compensation team by making recommendations for adjustments as needed.

• Foster a positive work environment through employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration.

• Identify training needs and coordinate professional development programs to enhance employee skills and career growth.

• Support the recruitment team in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding of new hires to ensure a smooth and positive experience.

• Support onboarding processes and training. 

• Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently.

• Maintain company organization charts and employee directory.

Education and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Minimum of 7+ years of HR experience, preferably in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry.

• Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulations.

• Proven experience in employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and compensation and benefits administration.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organization.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

• Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
