Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly professional position in the Viral Hepatitis and Outbreak Response Section responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions and programs related to hepatitis awareness, education, and HIV cluster detection and response. The incumbent works with mass media. plans and conducts workshops and training events. Implements educational activities.

 

Organizes, and coordinates all hepatitis awareness events and acts as a health resource person for individuals and organizations. 


Assists in preparing materials for classes and presentations on hepatitis. Instructs classes and provides educational presentations related to hepatitis. Collects data and maintains database for educational training pre- and post-test questionnaires. Makes 
recommendations based on evaluated data. Prepares articles and documents for health-related publications, reports and manuscripts. Edits. coordinates and prepares "Hepatitis Health" newsletter bimonthly.

 

Promotes and distributes educational materials to the public, healthcare providers, community-based organizations. county health departments. and other partners. Accountable for expanding the current distribution of hepatitis educational materials such as fact sheets, brochures, and palm cards and create new materials for internal and external stakeholders. 


Acts as Department of Health liaison to the Florida Viral Hepatitis Network and assists in the planning and execution of associated statewide meetings of the group. Ensures the regular updating of the Comprehensive Hepatitis Plan. Represents the program as a liaison to other 
internal and external partners including (but not limited to): INTERNAL: The Sections of STD, TB and Refugee Health, HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis, and the Bureau of Epidemiology as well as the Division of Family Health Services; EXTERNAL: Department of Corrections, Department of Children and F amities, Department of Elder Affairs. and Department of Education. 


Represents the program on various workgroups, panels, and networks to integrate hepatitis prevention and control into other programs and established infrastructure. Makes recommendations to section administrator based on these workgroup activities. 


Counsels' community members and other partners on hepatitis risk factors, prevention messages. and care/treatment options. 


Responsible for programmatic development and monitoring contracts related to Syringe Service Programs (SSPs), technical assistance, and wrap around services. Prepare and execute the Annual Syringe Exchange Report. Lead statewide quarterly meetings with the syringe exchange program representatives. 


Works directly with HIV Molecular Surveillance and Cluster Detection Response teams validating inventories of existing resources and partnerships throughout Florida by identifying gaps in HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and other communicable diseases issues that need to be addressed. 


Assists with quality improvement (QI) site visits and consultation to counties and other sites to ensure use of available resources and compliance with laws. rules, regulations. policies, procedures. and guidelines.

 
Assists with the preparation of grant applications, legislative budget requests (LBRs) and bill analyses, issue papers, section reports, and other written material as assigned. 


Represents the program at meetings and on conference calls as requested. 


Performs other related duties as assigned.
