Description
Duties:The non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $50,239.28 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 13, Step 1)
Responsible for composing and preparing correspondence, reports, memos, etc.; update diet compliance logs, update diet/religious rosters daily to include housing unit changes; forward diet compliance logs to appropriate medical staff for review monthly; forward all ACA document requests to appropriate staff; assist in responding in all DPH, PDCU and ACA Audits; update daily menu compliance and deviations; assemble all menu/diet books semiannually; assist in responding to Incarcerated Individuals grievances/ complaints; and maintain all department files in an orderly manner. Confidentiality and strong organizational skills are required. Additional duties as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient with Microsoft Office software. Knowledge of Department of Correction policies and procedures. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to work independently using personal initiative. Ability to multitask and support multiple projects. Excellent organizational skills.
Comments:
This is a Civil Service position. Please note that salaries for union positions are determined according to the provisions of the respective collective bargaining agreement. The Massachusetts Department of Correction shall not hire anyone who may have direct contact with offenders, who has engaged in sexual abuse in a prison or other institution as defined in 42 U.S.C. 1997; or has been convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse, or has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described in the above paragraph. The agency shall consider any incidents of sexual harassment in determining whether to hire anyone who may have contact with offenders or residents. The DOC urges bilingual applicants to apply.
Qualifications
First consideration will be given to those applicants that apply within the first 14 days.Applicants must have at least (A) three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, or (B) and equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
I. A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience. *
II. A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience. *
III. A diploma for completion of a one year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum or one year of the required experience. *
IV. A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for two years of the required experience.*
* Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
