Associate, Technology Product Manager, ETFs and Index Investments

Business Unit Overview:

The Markets and Investments team (“the Engine”) within BlackRock owns the day-to-day development, implementation, and oversight of the quality of our products, the investment management of portfolios, growing and protecting the ETF ecosystem and the evolution of our markets and investments platforms.  We are a global team of 380+ with footprint in all our major offices in each region.  Additional teams within the Engine manage Institutional business and strategy, provide quantitative models to support internal funds and develop analytical tools to support client and product teams.

The Engine platform team works with investments and markets professionals on developing and executing platform strategy, and owns technology risk management for the business. Our mission is to define & align technology initiatives to maximize their impact and deliver scale to the growing world of ETFs! We recently worked on the launch of the Bitcoin ETF!  We have a global remit and are passionate about innovation and using technology to solve business challenges and enable growth.

Your role and impact

We are looking for a hardworking and curious Product Manager to join the platform team in Americas! Your focus will be AMRS, but you will be empowered to manage technology risk and develop the global platform strategy. You will play a key role in the design and delivery of technology to support key initiatives such ETF launches and investment process enhancements. Additionally, the team owns aspects of daily platform management and lead coordination between various business functions and partners across the firm. The team operates at the intersection between markets and technology, giving you the opportunity to develop product management skills and learn about index investing while building the ETF ecosystem and helping the team extend its reach.

Your responsibilities

• Engage with partners in the Engine and across BlackRock to develop and manage the technology implementation strategy for key initiatives such as product launches and process enhancements
• Partner with the Aladdin Engineering (AE) and business leadership to ensure technology asks are properly designed and articulated to maximize impact
• Work with platform team and partners to ensure operational readiness for all large events such as major index rebalances and coordinate the response to any platform instability
• Provide oversight for and coordinate the development life-cycle, including change and release management, and create a reporting framework that builds transparency for Engine management
• Manage various aspects of our platform with a focus on resolving issues, collaborating with all affected teams and partners groups, ensuring appropriate regional communications, and owning any follow-ups
• Work with teams across the engine to identify and drive process improvements and ensure initiatives are appropriately prioritized

You have

• 2+ years substantial experience in a technology support, product management, project management or financial technology service type roles
• Excellent verbal and written communication, teamwork, and relationship-building skills
• Experience with financial technology such as Aladdin, Bloomberg, FactSet, Eikon and SQL/Python skills preferred
• Forward thinking skills and desire to innovate & improve processes while paying attention to details
• Knowledge of and interest in ETFs, index portfolio management & capital markets
• Ability to stay calm, multitask and prioritize assignments while producing high quality work in a fast-paced environment

 

For California only the salary range for this position is $105,000 - $11,500. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
