Job Description
Bosch Brake Components LLC seeks a Senior Research and Development Engineer (Multiple Positions) at its facility located at 1 Tower Ln., Suite 3100, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181. Design and develop new products to the targets given in the project plan. Establish, prepare, conduct, and evaluate product application tests and comparisons. Identify and pursue cost reduction opportunities within both products and processes. Generate and maintain mix, process and product specifications to production and product development. Support the launch of new products into the factory. Support production where formulation issues are identified. Prepare product information to support sales and marketing groups. Lead and/or participate in APQP meetings as a representative of R&D. Analyze and recommend methods, procedures, and standards applicable to R&D and production. Oversee maintenance of internal R&D records. Stay current with the state-of-the-art in friction material research via published literature, training courses and seminars / conferences. Report technical changes, innovations, and other developments in the market to the management. Monitor assigned operations to assure compliance with approved methods and quality standards. Generate and review product deviations for/by production. Maintain calibration records for the R&D laboratory. Remote Work May Be Permitted. REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, Materials Engineering or related field, plus 5 years of professional experience in friction material compounding within the automotive engineering environment. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: 1) Materials science (filled composites or plastics engineering); 2) Automotive brake industry standards, testing and simulation knowledge; 3) High proficiency in Excel for analysis of testing data; 4) Creating and delivering technical presentations using PowerPoint; 5) DOE (Design of Experiments) methodology for product development and process optimization; and 6) Team participant in the DFMEA methodology (Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis).
