Within Capital One, the Shopping team is working on a new consumer product that seeks to change the way people buy things online. Our mission is to deliver a best-in-class shopping and savings experience for our millions of customers while driving incremental and sustainable sales for our merchant partners.  This role will lead the strategic planning of our Shopping Categories. 

The Strategic Planning team is focused on Shopping’s long-term strategy to win with merchants and consumers. We seek to define and accelerate the path to achieving our ambitious growth goals across the entire Shopping business.

As a Senior Business Analysis Manager at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. General Responsibilities:  

  • Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands 

  • Develop and maintain category growth roadmap including new category identification, scoping, sizing and prioritization grounded in industry and category trends

  • Develop clear, data-driven executive narratives that articulate category priorities, investment rationale, and advertiser and customer impact

  • Identify, scope, and establish external partnerships that benefit value delivery from new and existing categories

  • Act as key thought partner for Category leadership, completing special projects and continuously elevating the vision and execution for the Categories team

  • Collaborate across Product, Engineering, Partnerships and Business Operations to drive alignment and accelerate execution of category initiatives

  • Establish robust reporting frameworks and standardized KPIs to increase transparency into category health and value delivery

  • Drive category team operating cadences including regular leadership updates

  • Serve as the go-to person for the progression of data standardization and reporting for the Category team

  • Product: Develop and implement new product and pricing strategies for various lending products; lead product level modeling/analytics 

  • Credit Risk: Drive step-change improvements in credit performance by connecting drivers of future consumer credit trends to historical behavior, creating risk models, and testing hypotheses using rigorous monitoring and analysis 

  • Execution: Manage and sequence delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the product strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently 

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: IT, Sales, Operations, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability 

  • Strategic & analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytic marketing & credit risk management 

  • Strong business judgment, leadership and integrity: Candidate should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business 

  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. He/she should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consist
