Summary: Oversees the day-to-day police and routine security shift operations at the greater Brunswick Campus and Camden Campus. Plans, designs, develops, implements, and evaluates the Health System safety/security/emergency management programs. Primary emphasis is placed on the protection of life and assets, prevention of loss, and the reduction of crime.

Essential Responsibilities  

  • Assists the Director of Safety & Security in the preparation of all operational and capital budgets for the department.
  • Ensures enforcement of department policies and procedures; oversees day-to-day operations of all Brunswick/Camden based police, security, and scheduling practices.
  • Oversees day-to-day shift activities to ensure secure and safe conditions.
  • Reviews all officer reports in a timely manner for content, accuracy, and thoroughness. Works with PSOs and Security Officers to improve writing skills; approves all incident/variance reports submitted by Safety & Security staff and effectively communicates required information to the Director and others.
  • Responsible for meeting all required documentation by the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council, including mandatory training and investigative information; assures required International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) training is provided to all staff and that the required equipment is available and maintained.
  • Oversees the criminal background check process, properly managing the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and Criminal Justice Information Services-FBI (CJIS) systems.  Manages access to these systems for other authorized and trained staff.
  • Effectively plans and conducts special department and required business meetings.
  • After assuming all above responsibilities, the second phase of the position will encompass all other day-to-day security and police department operations including but not limited to:      
    • Management of the CCTV system/burglar alarm systems/electronic access control system·       
    • Fire Extinguisher Inspections     
    • Parking control 
    • Lost & found
    • Two-way radio operation
  • Effectively plans and conducts special department and required business meetings.
  • Complete all Scheduling and approve all PTO requests in a timely manner.
  • Audit all timecards for accuracy and require justification for all discrepancies (break violations, early start, late start, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Police Officer; managerial experience preferred.
Licensure: Must be Georgia POST certified in good standing; Valid Drivers’ License required.
