Job Title: Subject Matter Expert (Part-Time) – Medical Laboratory (MLT) Program

We are seeking qualified Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) with professional experience and certification in MLT to support the development of a new MLT program.
SMEs will contribute to the development of course outlines and section-level curriculum content for one or more courses within the program. Courses span all five disciplines in MLT profession, including clinical Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Transfusion and Specimen Collection. Additionally, courses covering Quality and Safety, an introductory course on Clinical Services and Lab Technologie, Placement courses, and a Comprehensive Review course related to the profession need development.
The interested individual(s) will have the following qualifications:
• Advanced Diploma in MLT is required, with professional experience supervising or leading clinical techniques in an industry setting
• A baccalaureate degree in a Health Science profession and or related discipline is an asset.,
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in one or more of the following areas:
◦ Quality and Safety in clinical MLT services
◦ Clinical Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Histology, Transfusion and Specimen Collection
• Strong understanding of clinical services and lab technique applications
• Ability to translate complex concepts into easily understandable content suitable for learners with varying backgrounds and levels of expertise.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., technical, medical, nursing)
• Experience in postsecondary teaching, training, or SME curriculum development is preferred
• Post-Secondary education in Adult Education is an asset
• Knowledge of Canadian or international MLT regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Capacity to commit to the course development over the next 3-4 months is required
The responsibilities of the assignments include but are not limited to:
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert to help create the course outlines/section-specific information documents. Specifically, the SME will plan the theoretical and practical learning course components and develop course outlines and section-specific information which may include but are not limited to: program learning outcomes mapping, course learning outcomes, learning activities, assessments and weighting, and the weekly topic outline, learning activities and resources
• Ensure course content reflects current industry practices, tools, trends, and risks related to MLT in clinical practice
• Work closely with the development team; Dean, lead faculty and SME, instructional designer (as applicable), project leader, etc. to ensure all development adheres to institutional standards and credential requirements
• Participate in review or revision cycles to ensure quality and alignment
