Physical Education Teacher - Middle/Upper

Latin School of Chicago is seeking a full-time Middle/Upper School Physical Education Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. Our ideal candidate will possess the desire to contribute to a dynamic team of professionals in the promotion of lifelong fitness, wellness, and overall enjoyment of being physically active; demonstrate positivity, optimism, and the ability to support students in a risk-safe environment; and be adept at teaching in a manner that fosters skill development, refinement, and mastery while understanding and meeting the needs of a variety of learning styles.

Compensation:

• Salary is based on education level and years of experience as outlined in our Faculty Scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry a 5-course teaching load
• Provide leadership and guidance to students in physical activities
• Create lesson plans based on Latin standards and policies and state regulations
• Track student progress including complications and injuries
• Prepare and maintain equipment for student use as needed
• Provide students with instruction on safe and effective techniques for engaging in a variety of physical activities.
• Coaching opportunities may also be available

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s degree in Physical Education is preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education (PE) or related field is required.
• Experience teaching PE at the Middle and Upper School level
• Experience in curriculum development
• Lifeguard certification
• Aquatics background
• Current CPR certification
