Position Overview

Vantage Data Centers is looking for a Vice President, Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to support our project located in Abilene, TX. In this regional executive role, you will be responsible for shaping and executing the long-term vision of Vantage’s EHS strategy across a large, multi-year project. You will lead the development of a world-class safety culture that is deeply embedded in every aspect of our operations, construction, and corporate functions. As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will influence decision-making, ensure global regulatory compliance, and drive innovation in risk management. You will oversee a local team of senior EHS leaders and their subordinates and collaborate with executive stakeholders to align safety initiatives with business objectives. This role requires a forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of managing complex, EHS programs and delivering measurable results. The role requires autonomy and oversight of processes including, but not limited to:

  • Collaborative Planning

  • SIF Prevention and High-Risk Activity control programs

  • Electrical Safety (Energized Electrical Work, Arc Flash)

  • Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout)

  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation methodology

Essential Job Functions

  • Define and lead the local EHS strategy, ensuring alignment with Vantage’s business goals and operational priorities.

  • Oversee the development and implementation of scalable, harmonized EHS programs across all regions.

  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the executive team, providing insights on risk trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices.

  • Maintain local EHS governance frameworks, performance metrics, and reporting systems.

  • Embed safety into local design, construction, and operational processes.

  • Lead local audits, assessments, and benchmark efforts to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.

  • Represent Vantage in external forums, regulatory engagements, and industry associations.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence in EHS performance.

Duties

  • Report to the global leader for EHS at Vantage and serve as the executive EHS leader responsible for local EHS performance.

  • Lead and develop a local team of EHS professionals, ensuring alignment and consistency across all business units.

  • Own the local EHS roadmap and oversee the execution of strategic initiatives across construction and operations.

  • Lead risk assessments and ensure implementation of proactive mitigation strategies.

  • Oversee incident management processes, ensuring systemic corrective actions and knowledge sharing.

  • Develop and deliver executive-level briefings and board presentations on EHS performance and strategy.

  • Monitor regulatory landscapes and ensure proactive compliance and advocacy.

  • Drive the adoption of advanced technologies and analytics to enhance EHS performance and visibility.

  • Collaborate with executive leaders across departments to integrate EHS into strategic planning and execution.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.

Job Requirements

  • This role will be based in our US locations: West Texas

  • A Degree in Environmental, Health and Safety or a related science/engineering discipline with coursework in risk management or safety is preferred, but not required, depending on experience.

  • A minimum of 20+ years of progressive experience in EHS is required, including executive leadership roles with demonstrated success managing global programs and leading large, distributed teams.
