Job Description
AECOM is actively growing the East Region Environmental Planning & Permitting (EPP) practice and is seeking a Senior Project Manager within the Mid-Atlantic EPP Department. The successful candidate will have experience in overseeing environmental permitting projects for energy clients, specifically within the Offshore Wind (OSW) market. The successful applicant will join a network of existing AECOM EPP specialists across the US to assist in project delivery.
For this opportunity, we will consider candidates in any of our Mid-Atlantic Regional offices including, but not limited to, the following: Baltimore, MD; Germantown, MD; Conshohocken, PA; Arlington, VA; Norfolk, VA; and District of Columbia.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Develop, manage, and administer staff and projects carried out by those directly reporting to this position.
- Manage and perform consulting projects to scope, schedule, and budget, learning and applying AECOM’s project management systems and software. The candidate will accelerate through AECOM’s in-house Project Management certification program within the first year of employment.
- Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary project teams in the preparation of local, state, and federal permitting processes for offshore wind energy projects, with a particular focus on preparation of permit applications, BOEM Site Assessment and Construction and Operations Plans, Environmental Impact Statements, and supporting technical studies, terrestrial and marine surveys
- Develop, manage, and deliver business strategy and tactics, high-quality proposals, interdisciplinary teams, and documents and report deliverables.
- Serve as an interface with clients and regulatory personnel on complex projects and through business development initiatives.
- Proactively enforce a culture of producing high-quality work and the importance of Heath & Safety within the team.
- Provide technical support to the EPP Department and individual Project Managers, and support inter-disciplinary business development activities.
- Collaborate with other AECOM offices, practices, and business lines.
- Serve as a mentor to junior and mid-level staff.
- Perform client visits and field activities that require work outside the office and overnight travel.
Minimum Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Marine Science, Ecology, Policy, or an earth science-related field
- 8+ years of experience managing projects and teams to scope, schedule, and budget
- 8+ years of professional experience in environmental consulting / Energy market with applied science in the OSW (Offshore Wind) market to include overseeing studies, surveys and permitting in support of BOEM, SAP and COP
